Municipal Election: Murphy makes it official, running for Mayor again

Alice Murphy

Published August 22. 4:30 pm. There’s now a race on for the mayorship of Muskoka Lakes. As expected, and as Alice Murphy had announced as early as last year in the press, the incumbent mayor is seeking re-election. She filed her papers officially this morning.

Her only opponent is Don Furniss. Like Murphy, this past term was Furniss’ first as a Muskoka Lakes councillor.

  1. At least now when Mayor Murphy is out campaigning, as she was at the Walker’s Point Town Hall Meeting last weekend, it is now offical!! I have heard there was quite a performance when she filed her papers today……..

  2. I can’t wait to hear how she spins her list of (non) accomplishments over the last four years. Or how the township is better off since she took over.
It’s time for new leadership to get the township back on track, making it a better place to live.

  3. Oh God help us.

Can we afford losing 14 more valuable resources in the next 4 years?

We need more candidates running for these seats.

  4. At first I thought this was a joke. I am sure more valuable staff will leave if we don’t select the right candidate and I am sure more of our tax dollars will be spent on Bala Falls!!! Senseless!!

  5. Murphy’s opponent is her polar opposite. Polite, respectful and he understands he is elected to work for all of the people not just his friends to fulfil his personal agenda. Murphy fooled us once, shame on her. if she fools us twice, shame on us!

I am pleased to see from current and past postings that attendees at Walker’s Point could see through Alice’s performance and staged questions. That is encouraging.
